An online experience for women living with persistent pain. No travelling. No uncomfortable chairs. No exhausting journey home afterwards.
When you have lived with pain for months or years, life gradually becomes smaller.
You think twice before making plans. You worry about doing too much. You find yourself watching your body, wondering whether something will set off a flare up.
You may have tried treatments, exercises, medications, appointments and advice, and still find that pain has far more say in your life than you want it to.
And perhaps the hardest part is that other people do not always understand how exhausting it is.
One of the most important things we now understand about persistent pain is that how much pain you feel is not simply a measure of damage.
Pain is produced by a sophisticated protective system involving the brain, the nervous system, your body, your emotions, your past experiences and your sense of safety or threat.
When pain has been present for a long time, that protective system becomes very good at protecting you. Sometimes too good. More sensitive. More watchful. Quicker to sound the alarm.
This does not mean your pain is imaginary. It means there may be more opportunity to influence it than you have been led to believe.
That understanding sits at the heart of this morning.
Why persistent pain continues even when tissues have healed, or when scans cannot explain how much it hurts.
Practical ways to send your nervous system signals of safety rather than threat.
Why some completely understandable responses to pain can quietly keep the system on high alert.
How to reduce fear around moving, without pushing through or forcing anything.
What to do differently on the difficult days, so they take less from you.
Reconnecting with the things that matter, starting from where you actually are.

Your Pain Reframe Workbook, sent to you by email. Use it to prepare, to reflect on your own experience, and to capture the things that feel most relevant to you. It becomes yours to return to afterwards.
Three carefully structured hours together, live on Zoom. You will learn, reflect, try things out, and start connecting what we know about pain with what actually happens in your life. Regular breaks throughout.
You will also leave having created your own Personal Pain Reframe Plan, a short set of realistic next steps chosen by you.
A collection of pain management audios to keep practising with. A recording of the teaching sessions, so nothing is lost. A one hour follow up group session on Zoom to talk about how you are getting on. And a copy of Dr Sue's book, Breaking the Pain Cycle, sent to you in the post.
By the end of the morning you will have created your own Personal Pain Reframe Plan.
Not a long list of things you should be doing. Just five realistic steps, chosen by you:
Because the first step back towards your life does not need to be a big one.
And when we come back together for the follow up session, this is what we will talk about. How you are getting on, what has worked, and what needs adjusting.

You will not be expected to. There are regular breaks, and you can stand, stretch, lie down or move around whenever you need to.
Only if you want to. There is no pressure to share anything.
No. This sits alongside your existing care rather than instead of it.
Your Pain Reframe Workbook will be sent to you by email, 7 days before the online retreat.
The teaching sessions are recorded and sent to everyone afterwards. Group discussion is not recorded.
You will still receive the workbook, the audios, the recording and your place on the follow up session, so nothing is lost.
Just Zoom, which is free. We will send clear instructions before the day.
Cancellations before 30th September 2026 receive a full refund. After that date we are unable to offer refunds, but you will still receive the workbook, a copy of Dr Sue’s book, Breaking the Pain Cycle, the audios, the recording of the teaching sessions and your place on the follow up group session.
By booking your place on the Pain Reframe Online Retreat, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
